The overall objective of this project is to identify the sources of livelihood and food security for the community. The specific objective is to find out the edible plants and other natural materials in the local environment and if possible, those others with nutritional value but are not seen as source of food by the local population.

The project outputs are:

Social empowerment

The project is expected to initiate the capacity building process to empower communities to be able to:

•             define knowledge

•             be engaged in research

•             identify gaps in knowledge (focus being human nutrition food security and livelihoods)

•             demand research

•             utilize findings/results

•             Monitor and evaluate mitigating efforts and respond appropriately.

Local Development

Outreach- assist county government to establish a technical ODEL mode of outreach documentation to hold county level and community generated data/information

Deliverable: Report/article containing information on: what plants exists, where they are, who their custodians are, how it was generated, who demanded and how it has been utilized?
