The Centre for Sustainable Dryland Ecosystems and Societies (CSDES) will collaborate with Marsabit County to develop a natural resource management master plan for the County.

This was revealed during a Joint partnership Meeting Held on 14th March 2014 at Upper Kabete Faculty Club between Marsabit County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Development, Dr. James Dokhe and the Centre for Sustainable Dryland Ecosystems and Societies (CSDES), University of Nairobi (UON).

In its bid to promote a vibrant think tank at the University of Nairobi (UoN), the Center for Sustainable Dryland Ecosystems and Societies (CSDES) recently hosted a thought provoking public lecture on the topic “Land for Livelihoods: Sustainable Land Management in the Drylands of Kenya”. Dr. Zeinabu Khalif, the National Project Manager for Mainstreaming Sustainable Land Management in Agro-Pastoral Production Systems of Kenya gave the lecture.

UoN HOSTS BORLAUG LEAP ALUMNI ASSOCIATION EVENT

The University of Nairobi (UoN) through the Centre for Sustainable Dryland Ecosystems and Societies (CSDES) recently hosted the Borlaug Leap Alumni association conference on 4th March 2014. The event, held at the Central Catering Unit, UoN brought together more than 100 participants with a majority being beneficiaries of the Borlaug (LEAP) fellowships. Other stakeholders who attended the conference were; scientists, policymakers, former Borlaug LEAP fellows, mentors, press and USAID representatives.
