UNESCO in partnership with the University of Nairobi and Mt. Kenya University are organizing an official launch (O3) plus project in a high level event for promoting health and wellbeing among students in institutions of higher learning in Kenya, which will be held on September 30, 2021 at 10.00 a.m. in Taifa Hall, University of Nairobi.

The overall goal of the UNESCO’s Our Rights, Our Lives, Our Future (O3 Plus) project is to ensure that young people in higher and tertiary education institutions in the Eastern and Southern Africa realize positive health, education and gender equality outcomes through sustained reductions in new HIV infections, unintended pregnancy and gender based violence. The project being implemented in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe aims at enabling young people to reach their full educational potential and contribute more effectively to the development of their countries and region as graduates, professionals and young leaders.

The event will be a hybrid event, i.e. it will include both a live and online participants and audiences. The partners will carry out activities that will strengthen institutions, strengthen student health and well-being, safe and inclusive campus environments and evidence-building and knowledge-sharing platforms. This project’s activities will be implemented between July – December 2021. Other activities will be informed by the baseline survey and health facilities assessment results.
