  • Applicants must hold citizenship of a country listed on the OECD/DAC list (excluding the People's Republic of China).

    AI Engineer Application deadline: June 30th, 2024 (JST)

  • Internship Placement

    • Companies headquartered and located in Japan (excluding industry associations, non-profit corporations, and local governments)

    • Host companies will be determined through matching by the administration office and approval by the screening committee.

  • Internship Activity Examples

    • Digital transformation / New business development leveraging AI technology, etc.

    • Web design and production for overseas markets, etc.

    • Market research / marketing in the intern’s country.

    • Service development for overseas markets, etc.

  • Application Requirements

    Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

    • Must align with the objectives of this program and be willing to actively contribute to the internationalization efforts of Japanese companies, the expansion of overseas businesses, and building networks with overseas universities through internship participation.

    • Must hold citizenship of a country listed on the OECD/DAC list (excluding the People's Republic of China).

    • Must be able to communicate in English or Japanese.

    • Must be able to fully commit to internships and training at companies and be available for activities scheduled according to the activity plan submitted to the administration office.

    • Must meet any additional requirements specified by individual companies.

    • June 22 and 23, 2024:

      Coding Contest

    • July 2024:

      Coding Contest, matching interviews with prospective companies for high-scoring participants

    • End of July 2024:

      Selection of internship company

    • Early August 2024:

      Online pre-training
      Participate in online pre-training

    • Late August to late December 2024:

      Internship in Japan
      Students will come to Japan and begin their internship (for approximately one month).
      Specific dates are to be arranged with the internship company.

    • December 2024:

      Internship in Japan
      Students will come to Japan and begin their internship (for approximately one month).
      Specific dates are to be arranged with the internship company.

    • From May 1, 2024 to June 30, 2024:

    • July 2024:

      Preliminary selection (documents, etc.), matching interviews with prospective companies

    • End of July, 2024:

      Selection of internship company

    • Early August 2024:

      Online pre-training
      Participate in online pre-training

    • Late August to late December 2024:

      Internship in Japan
      Students will come to Japan and begin their internship (for approximately one month).
      Specific dates are to be arranged with the internship company.

    • December to February 2024:

      Post-internship
      Participate in surveys, interviews, etc.
      End of program

  • Main Support for Interns

    • Living allowance: 3,000 yen per day throughout the stay

    • Coverage of round-trip airfare, accommodation during the stay, and local transportation

    • Pre-internship training

    • Internship insurance

  • Main Responsibilities of Interns

    • Collaborate with company representatives to develop internship plans (including roles and goals for both parties).

    • Participate in pre-training and presentation of results.

    • Ensure safety and health management by actively communicating, reporting, and consulting with the administration office and host company.

    • Submit required documents, notifications, and reports before, during, and after the internship period.

    • Demonstrate awareness as a participant in a project funded by the Japanese government's public funds.
