On Thursday, April 27, 2023, the University of Nairobi and Guangzhou Wondfo Biotech Co. Ltd signed a collaborative agreement. The Vice Chancellor was represented by the DVC Academic Affairs, Prof Julius Ogeng'o, and the Wondfo Kenya Director, Mr. Bear Xiong, officiated the signing ceremony. Faculty from the Faculty of Health Science, Department of Human Pathology were also in attendance.

The collaboration agreement aims to establish a world-class diagnostics center of excellence sponsored by Wondfo. The center will be located at the Faculty of Health Sciences, situated at the Kenyatta National Hospital Campus. It will serve as a hub for learning, training and research for undergraduate and postgraduate students at the faculty.

In addition, the center will be utilized for training faculty and other medical practitioners from various counties and regions across Kenya. This initiative will introduce world-class diagnostics machines to the country. The agreement also provides fully sponsored exchange programs for two students and faculty/technical staff to China every year.

During the signing ceremony, the DVC Academic Affairs, Prof Ogeng'o, welcomed the collaboration agreement and praised the Department of Human Pathology for this commendable initiative that will truly elevate the University of Nairobi to a world-class university.

Wondfo, a biotechnical company headquartered in Guangzhou, China, specializes in creating biotech machines and providing training on these machines for various fields including human pathology and forensic expertise.
