UoN and Australian High Commission to Strengthen ties
Good news, as UoN students can now intern at the Australian High Commission!
The Australian High Commissioner to Kenya, Jenny Da Rin, made this announcement when she paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Margaret Hutchinson on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Amb. Rin who expressed the desire of the High Commission to reignite and strengthen the existing collaboration with the University of Nairobi underscored the budding relationship between Kenya and Australia especially in Academia, she noted, ‘There are over 8000 Kenyan students pursuing higher education in Australia and the numbers are rising.’
Amb. Jenny also announced an event Launch of the Global Peace Index; a joint collaborative initiative that the University of Nairobi will be host.
The Ambassador mentioned that the University of Nairobi International Relations students, who will successfully go through the recruitment process, will have an opportunity to learn the Commission’s processes and work during the three-month internship
Prof. Jesang Hutchinson, enthusiastically welcomed the initiatives and expressed the same desire to increase the students’ experience while keeping up with the University’s mission of transforming society and leaving no one behind. She assured the High Commissioner that the University will fully support the move, deliver to its best and glean from those students’ experience to mentor the others who would not have had the opportunity and that exposure.
